Working with multiple open Notepad instances might not be an activity that anybody is subjected to. However, if you have to deal with that daily, and you're frustrated about the window's position when you relaunch them, you might want to check Notepad Position Saver out. This little tool will remember the position of your Notepad instances, pinning them in the same location they've been closed from. In a nutshell, you can spread your Notepad files all over your screens, without having to rearrange them after they've been relaunched.
Setting it up
Notepad Position Saver has no installation kit, but it requires a different type of configuration before using it. First, you'll have to locate the Startup Folder. There are two ways of accessing it — one is almost instant, while the other will take a bit of time. For quick access to the folder, open the Run box and type 'shell:startup' in, then press Enter or OK. For the second method, open the following directories: User > AppData > Roaming > Microsoft > Start menu > Programs > Startup. As already mentioned, sticking with the first method is a wiser decision.
After you've opened the Startup Folder, copy both the EXE and DLL files there. Make sure the files you copy are compatible with your system. The issue may arise in case you use 32-bit files on a 64-bit system or the other way around.
The app will also create a shortcut in the System Tray area, from where you can check some of the saved window positions or close the program.
All in all
Notepad Position Saver is a type of tool that won't bother you with its presence every time you need it. It works quietly in the background and saves the position for every notepad instance you work with, so you don't have to constantly rearrange them.
